SEMANTICS: The study of meaning in language
.
SEMANTICS: Is that level of linguistic analysis where meaning is analyzed.It is the most abstract level of linguistic analysis,since we cannot see or observe meaning as we can observe and record sounds.


IRONY: The way of speaking that shows you are joking or that you mean the opposite of what you say
e.g. Irregular students of a college are always the best in examinations


SARCASM: The use of words or expressions to mean the opposite with ill-will or to criticize in a way to cause emotional injury
e.g. The best religious man is a person who kills innocent persons

METAPHOR: A way of describing something by comparing it to something else which has the same qualities (but without using words "as" or "like
e.g. Life is not a bed of roses,it is a journey on the stony path

SIMILE: describing sth by comparing it to sth else which has the same qualities by using words "as " or "like" or "seem
e.g. The academic ability of Ahmad seems to be excellent
